Jairus Kiyabu (b. 1989) is a contemporary oil painter and draftsman living and working in the United States.

 

As a young boy growing up in Hawaii, Jairus would always be drawing and creating. From designing his own comics, to building his own inventions, Jairus was always interested in the creative arts.  After graduating from high school he decided to study illustration in San Francisco at the Academy of Art University where he earned his BFA.   Looking to improve his draftsmanship even further, he immersed himself in the Atelier system both at Florence Academy US (NJ), and  Grand Central Atelier (NY).

 

As a recent graduate of Grand Central Atelier, Jairus hopes to utilize his training to realize his unique artistic vision.  Drawing inspiration from the past as well as contemporary artists, he hopes to bring a high level of naturalism to his portraits and figurative work.  He feels that drawing and painting people is an endless and rewarding pursuit that can and will be explored for years to come.  

 

In addition, Jairus hopes to one day teach and work abroad in Asia in order to partake in new opportunities and gain new inspiration.
